With the support and guidance of experts including Chen Ying, a National Class-A Performer in the Urumqi Peking Opera Troupe, Toutunhe district launched a Peking opera activity in five schools in March, 2017 and trained many young Peking opera lovers.

Furthermore, training sessions were held by Chen Ying's workroom for teachers in middle and primary schools. Chen Ying believes that building a professional team of teachers who sing Peking opera will better promote the art among students.

Chen Ying said that traditional Chinese culture is an invaluable national heritage and should be passed on to future generations. It will play an important role in the building of their character as well as the cultural development of Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.

According to Mi Lu, director of the moral education office of the education bureau of Toutunhe district, the district will build six municipal-level Peking opera demonstration schools beginning this year.
