Urumqi sees breakthrough on bonded logistics

A batch of German automatic winders with a total value of about 29.8 million yuan ($4.73 million) arrived at the Urumqi Free Trade Zone (UFTZ) on March 27, the first bonded logistics goods to pass through customs in the zone. Urumqi customs inspected the first cargoes of imported materials in Aug 2017, and now bonded logistics and storage have been added to operations. "From now on, we can make the most of the bonded system to relieve our tight budgets," said Zhang Liang, the logistics supervisor of UFTZ Development Investment and Construction Co Ltd, the first enterprise to offer bonded logistics service in the UFTZ. Over the years, Urumqi customs have adopted vigorous measures to facilitate the development of the UFTZ. Yang Xiaoyi, head of the UFTZ branch of Urumqi Customs, said that they will reform supervision systems, shorten declaration procedures and promote clearance efficiency so as to increase economic benefits.

The Urumqi Free Trade Zone was approved by the State Council in July 2015 and officially opened on Dec 30, 2016 as the third comprehensive bonded zone in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.
